Champions Selangor stay in front at the turn

PETALING JAYA: Defending champions Selangor maintained their lead at the half-way mark of the Super League when they defeated Johor FC 3-1 at the JCorp Stadium in Pasir Gudang last night.



National player Mohd Amirulhadi Zainal scored a brace in the 41st and 75th minutes before Mohd Hardy Jaa­­far added the third in the 85th minute.



The Red Giants were reduced to 10 men after centreback Mohd Nasriq Baharom was sent off in the 57th minute. Johor FC had the chance to reduce the deficit but Eddie Helmi Abdul Manan blew a spot kick in the 82nd minute. In stoppage time, Nurul Azwan Roya scored a consolation goal for the home team.



Selangor top the 14-team standings on 32 points from 13 matches.



In Alor Setar, Kedah crushed Tereng­ganu 4-0 at the Darulaman Stadium. The Turtles, on 26 points, dropped to third spot while Kelantan moved up to second after they edged Pahang 2-1 at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru.



Former international Hairuddin Omar scored the winner for Kelantan in the 71st minute. Norsharul Idlan Talaha had put the Red Warriors ahead in the 43rd minute before Nik Zul Aziz equalised for Pahang in the 53rd minute.
